Academics

CHASE is a collegiate academy providing graduate-level training designed to equip both college students and graduates to become missionaries on college and high school campuses.  A member of the Association of Christian Educators and Administrators, CHASE is an unaccredited program itself, but offers the option of course credit through a partnership with Columbia International University’s Seminary and School of Missions.

CHASE consists of two unique schools which integrate into one academy: the School of Evangelism and the School of Equipping. Each school is designed in modular form to allow for maximum flexibility for students to be able to attend at least one of these schools during their college career. College graduates may, of course, take both consecutively.

The School of Encounter

This one week school focuses on encountering God through the worship arts. The personal worship life of each student will be cultivated through corporate participation. Practical training and equipping is offered for aspiring worship leaders, vocalists, and musicians in the local church or campus ministry setting. Director Jon Owens will teach along with guest instructors. Any student who has completed his or her junior year of high school is eligible. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis for applicants, age 16 or older, not currently attending school.

Cost: one week for $150 (June 9-17, 2012). Cost includes attendance at the weekend Worship Conference, June 14-17, 2012.

The School of Empowerment

This one month school will focus on the person of the Holy Spirit: his character, gifts, and power. Topics will include Devotional Life, Spiritual Disciplines, Hearing from God, Prophetic Ministry, Healing Prayer, and Spiritual Warfare. With prayer, worship, and regular fasting every student will receive prophetic ministry and healing prayer as well as the practical activation of their spiritual gifts. Instructors will include Jim Laffoon, Jim Critcher, Jon Owens, Reggie Roberson, Dr. Leo Lawson, and special guest Jane Hamon. Any student who has completed his or her junior year of high school is eligible. Exceptions can be made for non-students on a case-by-case basis for applicants age 16 years and older.

Cost: 3 weeks for $350 (June 18-July 6, 2012).

The School of Evangelism

This one month school focuses on the work of Christ in salvation. Topics will include Gospel Essentials, Developing Your Gospel Presentation, Water Baptism, Baptism in the Holy Spirit and Evangelistic Models. The final two weeks will incorporate the world-renowned course, Perspectives On The World Christian Movement. This course can be audited or taken at the certificate level, even without enrolling in The School of Evangelism. For an additional cost ($195), it can also be taken for transferable credit (undergraduate or graduate) from Columbia International University.

This course provides the Biblical, historical, cultural, and strategic perspectives needed for effective ministry as a Christian leader. Though the Perspectives course is open to any college-aged person, The School of Evangelism can be attended only by college students who have completed their junior year of college. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis for non-students age 20 and older.

Cost: 4 weeks for $550 (July 9-August 3, 2012).

The School of Equipping

This 14 week school focuses on sound theology and the historic doctrines of the Christian faith in a campus context. Students will be trained to reach their campus through large-group meetings, small groups, and one-on-one evangelism. Half of each student’s time will be spent in practical, on-campus internships under the leadership of an experienced campus minister.

Topics will include Bible Survey, Life of Christ, Biblical Interpretation (Hermeneutics), Preaching (Homiletics), World Religions, Apologetics, Cultural Analysis, Basic Counseling Skills, and Foundations for Discipleship. Instructors will include Dr. Dave Cashin (CIU), Dr. Stephen Mansfield, Jim Laffoon, Ron Lewis, Lynette Lewis, Dr. Leo Lawson, Steve Murrell, Bruce Fidler, Dr. Brian Miller, Charles Kiefer, Reggie Roberson and Nick Jones. This module is reserved for those who have made a commitment to at least a year of ministry on their campus. This three-month module can be attended by college graduates. For applicants not currently attending college, age 21 or older, exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Cost: 14 weeks for $1595 (August 6-November 11, 2012).
